Introduction

A knight's melee skills increases faster than any other vocation. The same goes for paladins' distance skills, and for druids and sorcerer's magic level. The shielding skills of both Knights and Paladins increase at the same speed, and fishing advances at the same rate for all vocations.
Players who have no vocation advance each skill at the slowest rate out of all vocations.

Melee training

The vocations advance melee skill at varying rates, but the training methods are the same. For example, a sorcerer can advance melee by training on a monk, similar to how a knight would.
One of the widely accepted rules of serious trainers is to bleed the target at least once every 30 seconds, or else the training stops. However, it's not as simple as it seems. Although calculators can give accurate training times when training on a monk, the same is not the case when training on a ghoul. It takes approximately 25% longer to advance skills when training on a ghoul than when training on a monk, even if you bleed the target frequently.
It's not entirely clear why training on a ghoul takes longer. Nonetheless, it's important to note that a hit of 1hp is worth the same as a hit of 100hp, and a blood hit doesn't make you train faster than a poof hit, except in the way that you need blood hits to continue training. Distance skill works differently.
In conclusion, understanding the details of training in the game can help you develop your skills more effectively. Bleeding the target at least every 30 seconds is an essential rule for advancing skills. Additionally, when training on a ghoul, be prepared to spend 25-30% longer than when training on a monk, even if you bleed the target frequently.
Common training methods are monks by summon, a ghoul by summon or convincing, wild slimes by killing its summons and wild gargoyles because of their healing ability.

Distance training

Training your distance skills in the game is different from training your melee skills. With distance training, the more blood hits you make, the faster you train. It's important to aim for as many blood hits as possible, but try to make each hit deal as little damage as possible to minimize the need for healing. Additionally, to increase your shielding, you should have two weak monsters hitting you while using a shield.
For low-skill players, training with spears on a monk is an option, but you will quickly find that you kill the monk and need two monks or a new target entirely. Sometimes it's better to train with another player. You can look for another paladin who wants to train or ask a knight friend to let you hit them while they're training but they better have good gear. Spears are the easiest and cheapest option for training, as they don't break. At some point, the easiest method of training might just be to hunt, since making blood hits are the fastest way to advance in distance anyway.
Another option is to collect or buy small stones and go to the dark cathedral to convince a dark monk, which can be convinced, unlike regular monks. Small stones deal such low damage that you should be able to train on a dark monk without killing it. This option is ideal because you can train alone without being dependent on anyone else. Acquiring lots of small stones is difficult though and they break when thrown.
